Xuanwu Lake is located in Xuanwu District, Nanjing, east of Purple Mountain, west of Ming City Wall, north of Nanjing Station, south of the overlying boat mountain, is the largest intra-city park in the south of the Yangtze River, is also China's largest royal garden lake, the only remaining royal garden in the south of the Yangtze River, known as the Pearl of Jinling, also known as Houhu, North Lake. Xuanwu Lake is diamond-shaped, with a total area of 5.13 square kilometers and a lake surface area of 3.78 square kilometers. The southwest half of the lake is surrounded by the Nanjing Ming City Wall, outside the wall is the bustling city, quiet and downtown are only separated by a wall. The lakes are divided into three main areas, the North Lake, the Southeast Lake and the Southwest Lake, each with a different landscape. Throughout the ages, many famous people have left their poems.
